Step 1: Declutter and Organize

  • Pick up the dirty clothes and put them in the hamper or laundry basket.
  • Remove all of the trash/rubbish within the bathroom and put it in a bin bag for removal.
  • Move all of the items that don't belong in the bathroom and place them in a box to be put in the correct area.

Professional Decluttering Tips:

  • Remove all items from countertops and shelves
  • Sort items into keep, donate, or throw away piles
  • Organize remaining items in designated storage areas
  • Clean out medicine cabinets and check expiration dates
  • Remove any expired or unused products

Step 2: Clean the Sink Area

  • Scrub sink and wipe down taps and countertop

Detailed Sink Cleaning:

  • Remove soap scum and toothpaste residue
  • Clean faucet handles and spout thoroughly
  • Polish chrome fixtures for shine
  • Clean around the sink edges and caulking
  • Sanitize countertops and backsplash

Step 3: Deep Clean the Toilet

  • Clean the toilet out with toilet cleaner and brush. Pour a cup of white vinegar into the toilet and toss in a handful of baking soda to soak for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, scrub with the toilet brush and flush.
  • Spray and wipe down the outside of the toilet, including the seat.

Professional Toilet Cleaning:

  • Clean under the rim and around the base
  • Disinfect the toilet seat and handle
  • Clean the tank and behind the toilet

  • Replace toilet brush if needed

Step 4: Clean Mirrors and Glass

  • Wipe down the mirror, using glass cleaner or vinegar with water

Mirror and Glass Care:

  • Use lint-free cloths for streak-free results
  • Clean from top to bottom
  • Pay attention to corners and edges
  • Clean light fixtures and vanity mirrors
  • Polish chrome and metal surfaces

Step 5: Scrub Shower and Bathtub

  • Scrub the tub ring or wipe down the shower stall.
  • Spray the shower floor with disinfectant and spray the shower curtains with cleaning solution, then wipe clean

Comprehensive Shower Cleaning:

  • Remove soap scum and hard water deposits
  • Clean shower doors and tracks
  • Scrub grout lines thoroughly
  • Clean shower head and fixtures
  • Sanitize shower floor and walls

Step 6: Floor Cleaning

  • Sweep and mop the bathroom floor

Professional Floor Care:

  • Sweep or vacuum to remove loose debris
  • Spot-treat any stains before mopping
  • Use appropriate cleaner for your floor type
  • Work from back to front to avoid walking on wet floor
  • Allow floor to dry completely

Additional Bathroom Cleaning Tips:

Here are some additional tips for you to make sure your bathroom always stays clean.

Daily Maintenance:

  • You can cut down how often you need to clean by having a house rule that the last person to shower or bathe wipes down the walls and rinses off the bathtub ring.
  • Keep a squeegee in the shower for quick wipe-downs
  • Wipe down countertops after each use
  • Hang up wet towels to dry properly

Weekly Deep Cleaning:

  • Drop a denture-cleaning tablet into the toilet for a fast cleanup.
  • Wipe bathroom fixtures with a little rubbing alcohol for a quick shine.
  • Clean light fixtures and exhaust fans
  • Sanitize door handles and light switches

Monthly Maintenance:

  • Safely and easily unclog a hair-filled drain without harmful chemicals. Make a solution of equal parts of vinegar, salt, and baking soda. Pour it down the clogged drain, let it foam for 15 minutes, then flush with boiling water.
  • Deep clean grout lines with specialized cleaner
  • Clean behind and under all fixtures
  • Check and clean exhaust fan

Mirror and Surface Care:

  • To keep mirrors clean, dampen a soft rag with rubbing alcohol and wipe over the entire surface.
  • Keep tile and fiberglass shower walls clean. After washing them well, apply a thin coat of car wax and buff well. This will prevent most soap buildup, and the little that does build up will wipe off easily.

Professional Maintenance Tips:

  • Use a daily shower spray to prevent soap scum buildup
  • Keep a small cleaning caddy in the bathroom for quick touch-ups
  • Use color-coded cloths for different areas to prevent cross-contamination
  • Replace shower curtains and bath mats regularly
  • Check caulking and grout for damage and repair as needed

Eco-Friendly Cleaning:

  • Use natural cleaners like vinegar and baking soda
  • Make your own all-purpose cleaner with essential oils
  • Use reusable microfiber cloths instead of paper towels
  • Choose biodegradable cleaning products
  • Implement a green cleaning routine

Safety Considerations:

  • Always wear gloves when cleaning
  • Ensure proper ventilation during cleaning
  • Never mix different cleaning products
  • Keep cleaning supplies out of reach of children
  • Read all product labels carefully

If you follow these tips, then your bathroom will be the jewel of your home.
